Find the austronauts, figure the diference in the patches
First, all of the astronauts must be recognized and named. Then they must be associated with the different mission patches, but something is amiss! All of the patches have numbers that are incorrect for their missions. Finding out by how much each mission number is off, leads to a number to index into the name of the astronaut associated with the mission. When you do this you get:
|Name||Mission||Number Off||Indexed Letter|
|Christa McAuliffe||STS-51-L||5 - 11 = 6?
57 - 51 = 6
|Neil Armstrong||Apollo 11||13 - 11 = 2||E|
|Yuri Gagarin||Vostok-1||4 - 1 = 3||R|
|Alan Shepard||Freedom 7||14 - 7 = 1||E|
|Sally Ride||STS-7||8 = 7 = 1||S|
|Chris Hadfield||Expedition 35||37 - 35 = 2||H|
|Kalpana Chawla||STS-107||108 - 107 = 1||K|
|John Glenn||STS-95||97 - 95 = 2||O|
|Vladimir Komarov||Soyuz-1||16 - 1 = 15||V|
|Buzz Aldrin||Gemini 12||17 - 12 = 5||A|

The ad of Potentia
When the puzzle was originally published one of insignias was wrong and the resolution was lower (1500 x 1023 vs. 2500 x 1706) making it harder to read another (Soyuz "16").
