So, now you’ve got a cursory overview of the ancient lines. Let’s go a little bit deeper.
Each of these twelve have their accepted history. And each of them have their SECRET history. We’re going to peel those back and see the true impact each of them had on the world, and what we can learn from them today.
Each of these civilizations had a window on the truth of humanity. Some of them may seem contradictory, or even harsh. But we’re not talking about shiny happy ancestors here. The world can be brutal, and sometimes it calls for brutality to survive. Other times, it calls for keeping perception, equanimity, or grace. There’s no one perfect WAY, but each of the twelve possessed a piece of it.
As we go through, you may find yourself drawn to one of these societies. You might find the Nabateans compelling, with their ancient version of “speak softly and carry a big stick” philosophy. Or you might find yourself agreeing with the Donghu practice of attacking a problem with swift and overwhelming force. Some of you might see yourself in the self-reliance of the Koori or the ordered structures of the Shang.
This is a good thing. If you find an affinity to one of the lines, LISTEN TO IT. It may just be the key to your own personal salvation.
One very important thing to keep in mind: we are talking about the philosophies of civilizations on a grand scale. This should not be mistaken as painting everyone in those societies as identical, or perfect avatars of those philosophies. These are tendencies, not prescriptions.
People are people. There were patient Olmec, kindly Donghu and arrogant Cahokian. No civilization is monolithic. So choose a line that expresses your truth, the truth of how you see yourself. This truth transcends race, gender, national origin, or any of the other categories that falsely divide us from each other.
